Soaps and Shuttle Lace

Motif #2 Tiny Motif Star

Someone asked about a pattern that only used a small amount of thread and here is one that uses a little less than 2 yds of thread to complete.

Using CTM, wind a shuttle with 1 yd of thread and leave the rest of the thread on the ball.

Center R : 5 – 5 – 5 – 5 – 5 – 5 cl r, rw.

*Ch 3 – 3, then make a ring of the chain of 3 – 3, cl r, 3 – 3, lock join to next p on the center ring. Repeat from * until you have a total of 5 chains with rings off them.  Join the end of your last chain to the base of the first chain and tie and hide the ends (or leave then and make a hanger for a window decoration).

Uses less than 2yds of thread

I did my first one of these with 3ds around the center ring, but thought it was a bit crowded and still had too much shuttle thread left at the end.  Increasing the center ring to 5 ds all the way around gave more room, and left a lot less thread on the shuttle when you are finished.

This is done in the same red size 20 crochet thread that Motif #1 was done in.
